About the Firm

Bosco Law was established to focus on and become a leader in the areas of commercial, property and tax law for businesses.

We aim to differentiate ourselves from other firms by providing our clients with experienced lawyers at affordable rates – in many cases at fixed fees.

Peter Bosco

With almost 10 years of experience at major Adelaide law firms, Peter is a professional and experienced commercial lawyer.

His experience from working with small, medium and large clients gives a him a depth of expertise he uses to assist clients as principal of Bosco Law.

Peter is committed to being regarded as a lawyer of choice for business owners and their advisers. 

He practices exclusively in commercial, property and tax law.

In addition to his legal degree, Peter has a Commerce degree (with a major in accounting) and in 2016 was awarded a Masters of Tax from the University of New South Wales.

Peter regularly presents on commercial and tax law issues to private and professional associations, including the Institute of Public Accountants and the Tax Institute.

Outside of the law, he is a board member of Inclusive Directions Inc, a charity for autistic children, and is a sub-committee member of the SA branch of the Tax Institute.

Experience Matters

Commercial expertise

  • Acting for a mining company (70% owned by the People’s Republic of China) on the termination of a joint venture and subsequent acquisition of a mining tenement. 
  • Acting for a significant South Australian pastoral company on the acquisition of a multi-million dollar pastoral lease. 
  • Advising a multi-million dollar Australian agribusiness company on the commencement of a joint venture with a multi-billion dollar foreign owned agribusiness company. 
  • Acting for the purchaser in the acquisition of major luxury car dealership (transaction size: $12M). The purchaser was a large nationwide organisation with revenue in excess of $1 billion dollars. 
  • Review and negotiation of a finance facility for a major motor vehicle dealership group with a ‘big 4’ bank (facility size: $45M). 

Property experience

  • Drafting a request for tender with ancillary documents seeking expressions of interests for the provision of services to a nationwide property development firm. The matter involved dealing with executives of the client to gain an understanding of the business so the documentation could be tailored accordingly.
  • Acting for a large pastoral company in the sale of a farm and preparation of vendor finance security documentation (transaction size: $3M). The other party was owned by interests connected with a well known political figure.   
  • Acting for the purchaser in the due diligence and acquisition of a retirement village (transaction size: $3M).
  • Drafting a request for tender for a residential developer seeking a development partner for the construction of hundreds of residential homes on a broad acre parcel.
  • Reviewing documentation and preparing personal property securities registrations for the release of a guarantee given to two major banks (transaction size: $30M).

Tax law experience

  • Numerous matters on state and federal taxes, including advices, objections and appeals to the AAT.
  • Eliminating a $14M capital gain on the restructure of a family business.
  • Negotiating a successful outcome with the ATO regarding a $2M tax dispute arising from the vesting of a trust.
  • Advising on the winding up of a series of family owned companies to successfully deliver a large capital gain almost entirely free of tax. 
  • Providing advice on an employee share scheme for a company subject to a takeover bid (transaction size: $8M).
  • Providing various advice on the acquisition of a retirement village (transaction size: $5-6M). The matter involved advising on the appropriate structure for the transaction and advising a party on the consequences of transitioning from a not-for-profit to a for-profit entity.
  • Regular presentations at professional bodies on tax topics.
